nosag ROS 001Bengt Andersson/Ingemar Edgren - LEGEND

The viola is the only instrument with its own names day, and maybe the instrument told most funny stories about. It is sometimes a misunderstood instrument - many people believes it plays a subordinated role in the orchestra. So VERY wrong! Without the viola the musical world would be much, much less rich.

On this CD Bengt Andersson, former first viola player of the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, plays a viola built in 1793 and the repertory he has chosen is really messured with golden thread: There are contemporary pieces written for the soloist by Marco Ciannella and Argenzio Jorio, and also Swedish pieces by Fredrik Sixten, Hilding Hallnäs, Olof Gullberg, Torsten Sörenson and Ture Rangström´s beautiful Mälarlegender. The last three composers´ music are for solo piano, played by Ingemar Edgren.
We can also listen to two Violin Sonata movements by Mozart arranged for viola.

nosag SHP CD 621KARIN HÖGHIELM - Apocryphal

Apocryphal - peculiar, odd newly written music fertilized by both folk music and classical. Karin Höghielm is most certainly a controversial composer and voice-expressionist with a very personal style. Excitement, respect and irreverence are mixed in a way that leads to interesting and innovative works. In several parts it is the human voice and the movement Karin Höghielm uses to convey and illustrate the wordless song that is the very foundation of her music; visualising the song and movement becomes her central aim. Her work provides a vision of timeless universal emotion, which is an enriching feeling that remains with the audience long after the end of the concert.

Karin´s debut album including thirteen compositions for Two female voices, 8 musicians, a male vocal-quartet, and a mixed choir.

nosag SP CD622KARIN HÖGHIELM - Fabra

Karin Höghielm is most certainly a controversial composer and voice-expressionist with a very personal style. Fabra - This recording contains newly-composed chamber music, influenced by world music and avant-garde, with lyrics in Russian, old Gotlandic, Latin and Swedish, as well as wordless songs.

Texts attributed to Saint Birgitta, in addition to poems by Arsenij Tarkovskij, George Stiernhielm and the Gotlandic poet Gustaf Larsson, have been set to music.

Listeners will find an intermix of traditional acoustic instruments and the rather more unconventional: bronze horns, cheng, dulcimer, hurdy gurdy, Tibetan praying bowls, recordings of the Falun mine bell, Gotlandic tone stones, millstones and church bells.

nosag CD/deer meadow 1MAGNUS GUTKE - touché I

Touché I is the name of Magnus Gutke's debut record, which came out in 1997. The selections are weighted toward Spanish composers like Tárrega's Adelita and Mazurka, followed by Maria. The intensity rises with Johann Sebastian Bach and the Prelude in D-Minor. Two preludes by Villa-Lobos are followed by Moreno-Torroba's Fandanguillo. Yet another pearl is the beautiful Campanas del alba. We may also listen on this CD to compositions by Sor, Segovia, Mompou and de Falla.

nosag CD/deer meadow 2MAGNUS GUTKE - touché II

Touché II - this recording represents the culmination of more than ten year's work with pieces that date from Magnus Gutke's studies in Paris with the maestro Alberto Ponce and contain, besides Sainz de la Maza´s Platero y yo, Antonio José's Sonata. His work offers subtle melody and tonality in pieces such as Pavana triste and invites us to an explosive Finale with rapid scales and rasgueados. Together with the Frenchman Maurice Ohana we are transported yet further away from the tonal and listen to two movements from Si le jour paraît. We are offered Aube; a work with caustic tones and quarter tones and the virtuoso movement Jeu des quatre vents. A work with impressionistic stamp, Solilioque, by the Frenchman Henri Sauguet, forms an elegant conclusion for this album. .

This suite is inspired by the Nobel laureate Juan Ramón Jiménez and his prose Platero y yo from 1914.

cd sfz 2001Mats Möller - SOLO PER FLAUTO

Mats Möller is one of the most versitile among Swedish flutists who here presents an amazing collection of pieces for solo flute, all composed the last 100 years. On this double CD you find all the important modern solo music for this both lyrical and sometimes terribly disturbingly sounding instrument. The cd is an exposé of the evaluation of the flute and flute music from Debussy's Syrinx, written in 1913 as the first "modern" flute piece, to a new-written (2000) piece by the Hungarian-born Swedish composer Csaba Deák. Several pieces are also first recordings, and the production is also a pure flute technique exhibition, that could give lots of inspiration for flutists worldwide.
