Two Song Suites by Swedish composer Johan Hammerth.
The Wild Boy´s Songs have a role model in reality. In 1800 a boy was captured and it was alleged that he had grown up alone in the wild amongst wolves. In his composition, Johan Hammerth has had in mind the mysteriousness surrounding the uncivilized boy. The vocal parts seeks simplicity and clarity whilst the orchestration builds rather more on clangs than melody.

Four love songs speaks about words and feelings like relationship, love, emotions, fragile, gentle, dissonant cross-roads, dark silhouettes, syncopated rhythm, rhymes, united you and I and repeated mantras - All that is left is you and me.

The amazing singers Olle Persson and Hannah Holgersson colours each song cycle with great variety in expression and emotion and together with the superb playing of the Jönköping sinfonietta and its leader Jan Stigmer we get an expressive experience far beyond the every day concert.

This beautiful and by all Swedes very well-known cantata by Lars-Erik Larsson/Hjalmar Gullberg "God in disguise" is here presented by Enskede Kammarkör, a chamber choir from one of the Stockholm suburbs. They sing together with an orchestra from the Swedish Radio Symphonics and two great soloists from the younger generation Swedish opera singers, Charlotta Larsson and Gunnar Birgersson. The poem texts are narrated by a wellknown Finnish/Swedish personality, Mark Levengood. As an extra bonus the choir itself offers six a capella pieces from the whole span of the passed century. The young, talented Eva Karpe conducts.

nosag CD 101STEFAN SÄFSTEN / SPOON JACKSON - Frihet för de fångna

Spoon Jackson was born in 1958 in a small town in California. At the age of 19 he was sentenced to life in prison for murder. In 1985, Spoon began writing poetry with such success that he began being called "the poet."

While preparing the theater production of Samuel Beckett’s "Waiting for Godot" at the San Quentin prison, the Swedish director Jan Jönsson came into contact with Spoon Jackson, who was persuaded to take part in the play to wide critical acclaim. Spoon has not only written drama and poetry, but also novels, fairy tales, and short stories, as well as an autobiography. Spoon Jackson has also been awarded the prestigious PEN Prize for his writing.

Stefan Säfsten has been a church musician in Kista parish outside of Stockholm since 1983, and was educated at the Royal University College of Music in Stockholm. He has worked with choirs spanning all age groups in the Kista parish. Stefan has conducted and led many different ensembles and choirs even before he began working in Kista. Stefan has a wide experience within most musical styles, and is as happy performing sacred music and chamber music as he is playing jazz, pop, and dance music. He has played in big bands, brass bands, and rock bands. He has also performed quite a bit of chamber music.

Stefan has also composed and arranged much music for different types of ensembles. During 2002 and 2003 he toured Germany and the Czech Republic with his choir, Järva Röster, performing the mass "Leva i världen" (Live in the World, nosag CD 057), which Stefan wrote in 1998.

The music on this CD is the second written by Stefan Säfsten on poems by Spoon Jackson. (The first was "Freedom for the prisoned" nosag CD 101).

Words of Realness is a philosophic, spriritual and very real work, where the composer and the author meet in a various styles music. The texts are included as a poems book in the package. Spoon Jackson participates on the CD by reading some of his poems (the recordings were made in secret, inside the prison walls with not allowed equipment).

The Swedish Choral Miracle is a well-known expression in the world of choral music, ever since the book by Richard Sparks was published. This CD contains sacred music written in 2001 and 2002 by celebrated pianist and composer Steve Dobrogosz, for soprano solist, choir and orchestra. The Mass by Dobrogosz released on CD some years ago was a tremendous success and the piece since then was performed in more than 20 countries! These new sacred pieces have all the potential values that will make them as successfull and we will see a series of performances of this great and very beautiful music the coming years. This is music that will sound for centuries.

Though Whitman’s epic poem was ignited by tragedy – America’s first presidential assassination in 1865 – “When Lilacs Last In The Dooryard Bloom’d” refracts a full spectrum of light through the prism of Abraham Lincoln’s death and funeral. Verse by wistful verse, we follow Whitman as he constructs a cathedral-of-words around the spirit of the man who, through the ravages of war, kept a young nation alive at the cost of his own life. Of all Whitman’s work, “Lilacs” cried out to be sung as a choral symphony.
This is Steve Dobrogosz’s epic musical painting of the poet’s historic words, performed by S:t Jacobs Chamber Choir and Uppsala Chamber Symphonics.

"I have in the text to this dramatic Mass only used texts from the Bible, with certain small adjustments made for ease of use. Sometimes, a descriptive text has been changed to a quote, and vice versa. I have chosen to see Mary Magdalene as a symbol, a personification of all the weak, disregarded, fallen, and “lost” women whom Jesus met on his journey. No one was excluded from his protection. All had the chance to see and believe. And those who doubted, as Mary did when her “brother” Lazarus had died; they were given a demonstration of what belief could achieve. It might therefore be Mary Magdalene who later so faithfully stands at the Teacher’s side, at the cross, at the grave, during his resurrection. In any event, she is a character who is involved ´where it happens.´" /
