	GASON Jazz CD 731	Johan Berke - THE CACTUS SUITE The Cactus Suite is the second release from the quintet *Johan Berke Upstairs Five. Guitarist/composer Johan Berke* maintains the same group of musicians but guest artist Jan Eriksson gets more space on Lap Steel & Pedal Steel this time around. The focus is still on strong compositions and group interplay. The longest composition of the CD, The Cactus Suite was commissioned by the Bergius Foundation for the tenth anniversery of the opening of The Edvard Anderson Greenhouse in Stockholm and was premiered there, june 7 2005. Featuring saxophone players *Fredrik Nordström* and *Örjan Hultén. 	GASON Jazz CD 2739	Johan Berke - EASTERN SCENE IN GREY MINOR This CD, the third release from Johan Berke w/Upstairs Five, Eastern Scene in Grey Minor, sees composer Johan Berke and the musicians further explore areas present on the earlier releases with the same group: Upstairs Five (2005) and The Cactus Suite (2006). There's the tightly arranged ensemble work on the more melodic tunes, sort of "in the tradition", then there's the free improvising within a larger framework of structure and there's the extended suite and the short pieces which hints on European Contemporary Classical with, this time around, an undefined flavour of the East. As on the earlier CD:s the group is sometimes augmented by Jan Eriksson on Pedal & Lap Steel. This CD sees him get more room as soloist than the previous ones. Also present, as on The Cactus Suite, is electric/experimental guitarist Barry Cleveland, who has provided a couple of atmospherical soundscapes for the title track. 	GASON Jazz CD 721	DUOJ - Betraktelser This is this debut album from DUOJ consisting of Cecilia Jonshult singing vocals, and Lars Jonshult playing double bass and bass guitar. On three tracks, Krister Andersson plays the tenor saxophone and clarinet which contributes to the magic of this music. Jazz, scat, folk music, joy, melancholy, samba, stillness and swing are all present on this CD which vibrates with a rare tenderness and nearness.Why do you have to place all music in a specific category? Here, you open doors to land-scapes we all know but perhaps have not visited. Good music gives us an energy which dilates our senses. This music has that. This music could be presented in many different constellations. It is presented here in duos and trios which give a nakedness to the music, opening it up for interpretation by the listener. 	GASON Jazz CD 733	DAVOR KAJFES - Mirrors Davor Kajfes - pianist, composer, teacher - born in Zagreb, since 1967 working in Stockholm. For more than 30 years he taught, played and composed for dancers at the Ballet Academy of Stockholm. Since 1998 he is playing improvisation duo together with composer/cellist Peter Schuback - their CD "impositions" available on nosag records.
